Life Insurance

Togo was the fifth largest life market in the CIMA zone in 2018 but is well behind the top three (Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Senegal) and is relatively small by world standards. Economic pressures and civil instability have dampened demand in recent years.

There is a modest state pension for those who have worked in the private sector and paid their contributions and a more generous pension for government employees. Those involved in the informal sector, the bulk of the population, have no pension.
