Denmark - A terrorism insurance plan has been brought into effect by law, encompassing insurance contracts which cover the nuclear, biological, chemical and radioactive risk on buildings and contents as well as railway rolling stock, motor own damage and marine hull. There are no supporting regulations yet, but the scheme is expected to be operational by mid 2010.

El Salvador - In July 2009 President Funes confirmed that he would make good his election promise to provide a minimum monthly pension of USD 50 to those aged 70 plus who are not entitled to a social security pension.

Nicaragua - In May 2009 Seguros LAFISE announced a new agricultural insurance to cover the producers of peanuts and rice against adverse climatic conditions such as drought or excessive rainfall. It is hoped that in 2010 the producers of beans and maize may also be able to buy such cover.

Niger - In an attempt to reduce fraud, the Committee of Insurers of Niger has decided that members will require a police report to accompany all motor accident claims.
